Throughout many of his epistles, the apostle Paul referred to himself and other followers of Jesus as being spiritual soldiers who were engaged in spiritual warfare.  He exhorted us, as spiritual soldiers, to take up the whole armor of God in order to fight our spiritual enemies--Satan and his demons.  The early church would have understood Paul's metaphorical language as all of the Mediterranean region was under the control and occupation of the Roman Empire.  The church would have known very well the imagery Paul used of the armor and weapons of God as they daily observed Roman soldiers wearing such weapons of war.  This Contender Deck serves as a reminder to always wear the Armor of God in our fight against our spiritual adversary!

Deck strategy and tips:

  • The purpose of the offense is to place the Armor of God (AoG) as fast as possible on one or more of your heroes (although it's typically best for all of it to be on just one hero) so that the offense's effectiveness and potency is maximized.  Even without the AoG in play, the offense is still effective, so as not to be so reliant upon the AoG.
  • The defense focuses on capture abilities, which work with offensive and defensive strategies that involve captured characters (such as Covenant with Palestine and Alexandrian Ship).
