This Contender Deck utilizes a combination of meek (no special ability) hero strategies, powerful banding, and banishing of evil cards to create a strong, synergistic offense.  The defense focuses on strong evil character abilities while also discouraging your opponent to draw, but also forces him to draw, all of which punishes him for doing so.  The defense also has a soul-protecting element, adding another layer of defense for you to rely on to help successfully block your opponent!  This deck is sure to give your opponent a run for his money!

Deck strategy and tips:

  • The offense’s abilities mainly focus on your meek heroes, as well as banishing evil cards from discard piles. Additionally, the heroes have strong banding and can also negate several different Evil Characters. The heroes are backed up by powerful negate and battle-winning Enhancements.
  • The defense has potentially strong auto-block abilities and also has several draw abilities that make your deck run faster. It also has a minor soul protection theme.
  • Use Zerubbabel’s Temple and Areopagus to hold two extra artifacts so you can free up your artifact for yet a third active artifact.
  • If possible, play Seized by Rioters on Demetrius the Silversmith as he makes it CBN.
  • Before you enter battle with your meek heroes, use Root of Jesse during your Prep Phase to protect them that turn.
  • Use Wickedness of Jezebel (WoJ) to band in Alexander the Great or Antiochus so you can potentially get an automatic discard. If that discard doesn’t work, then the “discard a Hero” portion on WoJ can potentially discard the Hero you tried discarding with one of the banded ECs.
  • Using Abomination of Desolation in combination with your cards that forces your opponent to draw is a great way to discard cards in his territory.
  • Generate lost souls for you to rescue with Prisoner at Gaza, Zerubbabel’s Temple, Matthan, Aliens, and potentially with all of the forced draw abilities on your cards.
