Babylon is the clearly the most infamous city in the Bible. From Genesis (the Tower of Babel) to Revelation (the Harlot Babylon), it repeatedly epitomizes rebellion against God and cooperation with the devil. Thus it is no wonder that there is so much Biblical prophecy concerning Babylon! This Contender Deck features one of the Jewish people’s saddest times in their history: their exile to Babylon and the destruction of the Temple. Their captivity was as the result of their unrepentance from sin, in spite of the many warnings that God gave them through His prophets, which included Ezekiel, Jeremiah, and Habakkuk. But their exile was not to be forever, for God had a plan for their redemption and eventual return to the Promised Land!

Deck Strategy and Tips:

  • You can use The Watchman to search out or recur any of your Heroes (except Huldah), but targeting Ezekiel lets you also reveal a hand or draw 2.
  • Continuing with Ezekiel, the trio of New Covenant, Forest Fire, and Drawn Sword are all recurrable by and cannot be negated when played on him. Also, the very powerful Iron Pan artifact may be activated on him.
  • If your opponent is soul droughting (no lost souls in his territory), either use Imprisoned Prophet, Captive Priest or Hosea to either capture one of your opponent’s banding OT evil humans or one of your own, such as Mounted Forces and Archers of Kedar.
  • Sins Forgotten is an awesome negate + draw, and is cannot be negated when played by Jeremiah.
  • Defensively, Nebuchadnezzar is one of the best Evil Characters in the game. He can single-handedly search for, or add to battle, any of your other Evil Characters OR Evil Enhancements - and this ability cannot be negated!
  • Nergalsharezer is also a powerhouse - just remember to have another Babylonian in play first so his granting of cannot be negated works. Equipping Nergal with Swift Horses in territory is often scary enough for your opponent that they will be tempted to use their Angel of the Lord outside of battle to stop him!
  • Babylonian Siege Army is remarkably versatile. Just watch out that it doesn't get negated, as you are likely to give up initiative given its high numbers.
  • Reserve accessing cards: “Foreigner” Lost Soul, Treacherous Land, The Watchman, Captive Priest, Mounted Forces.
