Just as God foretold through the prophets Isaiah and Jeremiah, after their 70 years in captivity the Persian King Cyrus decreed that the Israelites could return to their land and rebuild their temple - albeit still as slaves. So around 500 BC, a group of about 50,000 Israelites trekked the hundreds of miles south to Jerusalem, led by the governor Zerubbabel, prophets Zechariah and Haggai, and high priest Joshua. Together they led the people through much opposition and setbacks to begin and eventually complete the rebuilding of Solomon's Temple - a smaller version dubbed "Zerubbabel's Temple". God's wisdom, mercy, provision, and love are glorified through this historical account, which this Contender Deck highlights - enjoy!

Deck strategy and tips:

  • The offense is primarily teal brigade but also has some green brigade heroes that have strong abilities. The lynchpin is Zechariah and is a powerful hero, so try and play him early on and use him often, if possible. All but one of the Enhancements can be used on any of the heroes as the Enhancements represent green and teal brigades. Recursion and getting what you need is also pretty strong with this offense.
  • The defense acts as a wall with the banding abilities of several of the blockers. In addition to banding they also tend to target heroes in your opponent’s territory by setting them aside for a certain amount of turns, attritioning your opponent’s offense.
  • Burning Incense will still work with Zechariah so long as your Altar of Incense is active.
  • Use Potter and the Clay to decrease your Joshua to give you initiative to play your CBN Enhancements on him.
  • Reserve accessing cards:  Captive Priests, Haggai, The Defender of the Saints, Trumpet in Zion, Potter and the Clay, The Bear, King Xerxes.
