When God delivered Israel from Egyptian bondage, He set up a system of animal sacrifices and offerings for His people to conduct so they knew the proper and holy way to approach and worship Him, and how to atone for their sins. The center of this worship was the Tabernacle, which served as the place where the sacrifices and offerings were conducted and where the presence of God abided and dwelt among His people. This Contender Deck harkens back to that important time in Israel’s history. Use well-known Tabernacle Priests to rescue lost souls, while you use animals (some of which were used in the Tabernacle animal sacrifices) to block your opponent’s rescues!

Deck strategy and tips:

  • The offense has some decent search and play abilities and some basic banding. It works the best with Tabernacle and priestly artifacts, such as Urim and Thummim, and Aaron’s Rod: U&T allows you to plan your attack by choosing the right hero for the rescue, and Aaron’s Rod helps with soul gen and to attrition your opponent’s defense.
  • The defense has auto-block options, works to control your opponent’s hand, and protects lost souls from rescue.
  • Use Vain Philosophy just before blocking with Negev Lions to help stop or reduce your opponent’s rescuing “ammunition.”
  • New Covenant is a great way to continually attrition your opponent’s human defense as you can continually recur New Covenant.
  • Scapegoat is a great way to either help win your rescue, or to buy you some time to get your offense and/or defense going by restricting your opponent’s attacking.
  • Use the Site Guard Lost Soul with your auto-block animals, such as Wayward Sheep or Fiery Serpents, to help block your opponent’s rescue.
  • Reserve accessing cards: Carcasses, Captive Priest, Offering Your Son, Betrayal.
